PRODUCT USED

Botulinum toxin is a chemical produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botox® is the most well-known brand on the market.

As long ago as 1978, Botox® was used as a treatment for patients with eye squints by weakening the overactive eye muscle. Since then, it has been used in a variety of therapeutic areas such as spasmodic neck, writer’s cramp, tics, multiple sclerosis, facial spasm, Parkinson’s Disease and cerebral palsy, to name but a few. In more recent times the use of Botox® for cosmetic therapy has become more widespread. 

Millions of people worldwide have had these injections and the safety of the product is well established and beyond doubts.

 

HOW IT WORKS

Using a tiny needle, small quantities of Botox® are injected into the muscle under the skin where wrinkles are more troublesome.

It stops the muscle from functioning by blocking neuromuscular transmission, i.e. it stops the chemical messages from the nerve to the muscle.

Depending on each individual and the dose used, the response to treatment can vary from a relaxation of the muscles to an inability to move the muscles.

INDICATIONS

Horizontal forehead lines, frown lines between the eyebrows and wrinkles around the eyes (Crow's feet).

Other areas that can be treated with Botulinium toxin include the lower face and neck. It is a also a very successful treatment for excessive sweating​​​​.

RECOVERY AFTER TREATMENT / DOWN TIME

Very minimal recovery period. 

You will be able to resume your daily life straight away.

You may experience bruising or tenderness at the injection site, a mild headache, usually subsiding within 24 hours.

RESULTS*

You normally begin to notice an improvement in your lines and wrinkles after 2 or 3 days and full results are usually seen within 10 days.

The effects last, on average, 3 to 4 months.

PRE AND POST-TREATMENT CONSULTATIONS

As for all the procedures proposed, the treatment will only be administered after a free pre-treatment consultation.

During this consultation, the concerns of the patient will be discussed, a full assessment carried out, a tailored treatment proposed, alternative options, prices, cautions and contraindications discussed. 

Finally, written and detailed information will be given to the patient who will be able to take it away and read it before making their decision. 

 

Injectable procedures will also be followed by a free follow-up appointment 2-3 weeks after the treatment, to ensure we've got the best result possible. Any additional Botulinium toxin needed at this appointment is included in the original cost.
